Date: Wednesday March 15 - Friday March 17, 2023

Time:  9:00am - 4:00PM (7 hours)

In this 3-day art workshop students learn directly from several guest artists, exploring all the techniques and materials they use as a professional creative. Working out of Northern Contemporary Gallery, we will explore different techniques for drawing and painting, try out exciting new mediums and create artwork to exhibit in the gallery at the end of camp! On top of art-making, participants will also explore other gallery spaces, go on a mural walk and learn about contemporary artists. Join us for a march break camp full of art, discovery and more! Guest artists: Emily May Rose, Alathea Milne-Hines, and more!

Emily May Rose is an award-winning artist and illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. Based on her own experiences, Emily’s work features a cast of recurring characters (most notably her pizza-eating raccoons) to depict humorous situations that are relatable to many of us who are trying to survive in an urban environment. Her work can be found in many formats including murals, editorial illustration, apparel design, installations, and gallery settings. Her murals can be found all over the world where she's painted in street art festivals, artist residencies, and other commissions during her various travels.

Alathea (Thea) is an art educator and cultural producer based out of Toronto. After completing her degree at Concordia University in Montréal, she taught several classes and led a youth camp with the Visual Arts Centre. In 2016, after moving back to Toronto to raise her daughter, Alathea has been focusing on the production of arts and culture events in collaboration with organizations and associations like StreetARToronto, various BIA’s, Mural Routes, and more.
