Date: Every other Wednesday, starting October 5th
Time: 6:30 - 8:30PM (2 hours)
Whether you draw regularly or are just getting started, Sketchbook Club is a fun way to grow your own creative practice in the company of others. Your sketchbook is where you play with ideas, improve your skills, and make a mess. It can be the foundation for larger art projects or can be a fulfilling practice in and of itself. Sketchbook Club is here to support your art-making – all you need to bring is a sketchbook, and we provide the rest. Each session we will have a selection of art materials for you to try out and use, guidance on art-making techniques, and a creative prompt or challenge. After plenty of time to draw together, we will close with a show and tell, as we share our sketches with the group.
Materials to bring: a sketchbook, preferably no smaller than 9in x 5in, with heavier paper suitable for mixed media.
About the instructor:
Sarah Aranha (she/her) is an artist and maker whose work draws from the
patterns and routines of the everyday. She has a background in painting and drawing, and works primarily with gouache, watercolour and textiles. Sarah is also a skilled arts facilitator, and hosts Studio Time, virtual and in-person drawing nights co-presented with the Parkdale Free School. First offered in January 2021 as a way to keep up her own creative practice, Studio Time has since grown into a community of folks with a shared interest in drawing and in connecting with others.
